Robert S. Thompson is president and principal consultant at Sage Financial Design, Inc. a registered investment advisory firm in Simsbury, Connecticut. He also is president of College Funding Strategies, Inc. an educational financing informational services firm.
Mr. Thompson’s legal, insurance, and financial services background combine to provide Sage’s clients with an expertise beyond that of the typical financial advisor. As Sage clients gain good advice on managing their money, they gain knowledge about managing all aspects of their financial affairs. His philosophy is to educate clients so they become smarter about managing their lives and attaining their financial dreams.
A frequent guest speaker for financial and charitable organizations across the country, Mr. Thompson serves on the Board of Directors of the Financial Planning Association, Connecticut Valley. He is a member of the National Committee on Planned Giving, the Planned Giving Group of Connecticut, and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Philanthropic Planners.
A founding member of the National Advisors Trust Holding Company, Mr. Thompson serves on the Board of Directors for the National Advisors Trust Company, FSB.
A nationally recognized expert on the topic of college funding, Mr. Thompson has consulted for states, banks, and corporations on developing successful college funding strategies; he advises financial planners nationwide on the topic. He has been a guest on radio and TV programs and has offered informational seminars to parents and grandparents for over 25 years.
Mr. Thompson holds a B.A. degree in political science and a Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University. He was subsequently associated with the law firm of Hoppe, Day & Ford in Warren, Ohio.
Vice President of Operations at Sage Financial Design. Upon joining Sage in 1985, she quickly developed an expertise in structured settlements. Because of her professional approach and direction, settlement design, which provides greater benefits for injured parties, remains a unique and valuable service at Sage.
For Sage Financial Design’s sister company, College Funding Strategies, Ms. Krzanowski served as liaison with banks in the New England area, managing seminars for company president Robert Thompson, bank personnel and clients throughout New England.
Ms. Krzanowski manages the daily operations and staff at Sage Financial. She is a member and past president of the Financial Planning Association, Connecticut Valley, serving on their board for the annual Spring Conferences, and also is a member of the National Committee of Planned Giving.
Laura M. Sundquist, CFP, CPA
Laura has more than 18 years of experience providing accounting and financial planning services to individuals. Her areas of specialty include college, retirement, and tax planning.
A graduate of Bentley University, Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She hold designations as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP).
She is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FP) in Connecticut and National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), a fee only advisors professional organization.
Laura currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Licia & Mason Beekley Library in New Hartford. In the past, she has served as a Board Member of the New Hartford Board of Finance.
A graduate of Fairfield University, with a BS degree in Marketing, Andrea joined Sage Financial Design in 2013. As Client Services Administrator, she assists with daily operations and client interactions, working with the Sage staff in the financial planning process. Prior to Sage, Andrea worked in Special Education on the elementary, middle school and high school levels.
Rob joined the firm in 2008 and works in Client Relations and Systems Development. Prior to joining Sage, Rob had worked for 7 years as a Production Manager for the not for profit, world renowned Up with People in Denver, Colorado. Rob's undergrad finance education is from the University of Maine, Orono.
